Tell us what broke, or what is missing

Bug reports, device page requests, corrections to a guide, or a speaker doing something strange that we have not written about yet. A real person reads every message.

What to expect

Before you write, here is how this works

Four things worth knowing, so your message gets a useful answer rather than a request for more information.

Two working days

That is our normal turnaround. Weekends and public holidays push it out a little, and we would rather answer properly than instantly.

For a bug, four details

Device model, browser and version, which mode you were using (Water Eject, Dust Shake or Deep Sweep), and what actually happened.

Say what you heard

Silence, a click then nothing, a tone that stops early, a progress ring that freezes: the symptom narrows it down faster than a screenshot.

No list, no follow up

Your email is used to reply to you and nothing else. We do not run a newsletter and we will not add you to one.

Before you write

If a speaker still sounds muffled after three cleaning cycles, tell us the device model and what changed after each run. That detail is what makes a reply useful.

One honest limit

We cannot diagnose hardware remotely

There is no way to tell from an email whether a diaphragm has torn, a flex cable has worked loose or an amplifier has failed. Anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. What we can do is read your description, compare it against the patterns we see most often, and tell you plainly which side of the line it sounds like it falls on.

Sometimes that answer is encouraging: three more cycles with the speaker pointing down and a soft brush along the grille, and you are probably fine. Sometimes the answer is that it sounds like a repair job, and we will say so rather than keep you cycling tones at a speaker that cannot be helped by sound. Losing a page view is a much smaller cost than wasting your afternoon.

  • Likely a blockage: sound went dull gradually, or right after water; volume is lower but clean; one grille looks packed with grey lint.
  • Likely hardware: crackle or buzz that scales with volume; total silence from one speaker while the other is fine; sound that changes when you press the case.
  • Worth testing first: a case cutout out of line, a screen protector over the earpiece, a stray Bluetooth connection, or an equaliser preset left on.

If you have not already, run the phone speaker sound test and the ear speaker test before writing. Telling us what those two sounded like is the most useful thing you can put in the message.

If your device is wet right now

Do not wait for a reply. Keep it off the charger, take the case off, point the speaker at the floor and run a water eject cycle straight away. Time matters far more than our answer does.

Device requests

Suggest a device page and we will probably build it

Most of the cleaners on this site exist because somebody asked for them. If your phone, tablet, laptop or pair of earbuds is not covered, send it over. The pages that get built first are the ones people actually ask for.

To make it easy to build, include:

  1. The exact model name, including the variant (Pro, Plus, Ultra, Lite, the storage tier if it changes the body).
  2. Where the speakers physically sit: bottom edge, earpiece, side firing, up firing next to a keyboard.
  3. Whether the problem you had was water, dust or both.
  4. Which of the existing tools you tried, and which frequency setting felt like it moved the most air.

That last point is genuinely useful. If you found that a laptop cleaned better at the low end of the deep sweep range than at the default, that is a data point we can test and act on. In the meantime the closest match is usually the right starting place: tablet for larger slates, earbud for anything tiny, laptop for bigger drivers.

FAQ

Contact questions, answered

The five things people most often want to know before they hit send.

Do you offer repairs?

No. SonicSweep is a free cleaning tool and a set of guides, not a repair service. We have no workshop you can post a device to and no partner network taking bookings. For physical repairs, use the manufacturer's service channel or a local shop that will quote before opening anything.

Can you fix my phone remotely?

No, and nobody can. Every fix on this site happens on your device, in your hands. What we can do over email is read your description, tell you whether it sounds like a blockage or a hardware fault, and point you at the right tool or the right next step.

Can I republish your guides?

Not in full, but we are happy to be quoted. Take a short extract with a clear credit and a link back to the original page, and that is fine. Copying a whole guide, translating it wholesale or feeding the library into another site is not. If you want to reference a specific piece somewhere substantial, email us and we will almost certainly say yes.

Do you take sponsored posts?

No. We do not publish paid articles, paid links, guest posts written to place a link, or product reviews arranged in exchange for coverage. The site is funded by a small number of ad slots placed away from the tool, which is exactly why we can turn these down. Please do not send a rate card.

How do I report a broken tool?

Use the form above or email us, and pick the Tool not working topic. Include the page you were on, your device model, your browser and version, which mode you had selected, and what happened (no sound, tone stops early, progress ring stuck, button does nothing). Those five lines usually let us reproduce it the same day.

Do you reply to everyone?

We read everything and reply to almost everything, normally within two working days. The exceptions are sponsorship pitches, link building requests and anything automated, which we read once and then leave alone. If you wrote a real message about a real speaker, you will get a real answer.

While you wait for a reply

Run one more cycle, speaker pointing down

It is free, it takes a minute, and a surprising number of messages get answered by the third cycle before we even open them.
