Privacy policy

This policy covers the SonicSweep website and the speaker cleaning tools and sound tests on it. It is written to be read, not to be survived, so there is no filler.

What we do not collect

There is no account system on this site, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into. Specifically, we do not collect or store:

• Names, email addresses or phone numbers (the tool never asks, and the contact form does not send anything to us through the website).
• Passwords or account credentials, because there are no accounts.
• Payment or billing information, because everything here is free.
• Newsletter or mailing list subscriptions, because we do not run one.
• Comments, reviews, uploads or user submitted content of any kind.
• Audio recordings, microphone input or anything at all about how your speaker sounds.
• Profiles about you, whether built by us or bought from anyone else.

The audio stays on your device

This is the part people most often ask about, so it gets its own section. The cleaning tones and test tones are generated on the fly by your browser using the Web Audio API, which is built into the browser itself. The sound is synthesised locally on your computer, phone or tablet and sent straight to your speaker.

• Nothing is streamed from us, so no record exists of which tone you played or for how long.
• No audio is uploaded to any server, ours or anyone else's.
• No audio is recorded, saved or analysed, not even locally.
• Closing the tab ends the audio completely. Nothing continues in the background.

We never ask for microphone access

SonicSweep does not request permission to use your microphone at any point, on any page, in any mode. The tools only produce sound, they never listen. If a website claiming to be us ever asks for microphone access, close it: it is not this site.

The same goes for the other permissions browsers can prompt for. We do not request your camera, your location, your contacts, your notifications or access to your files.

The contact form

The form on our contact page is not a normal web form. It does not post your message to a server. When you submit it, your browser hands the details to your own email application (Mail, Outlook, Gmail or whatever you have set as default) with the fields already filled in. You then send it yourself, from your own email account.

That has two consequences worth understanding. First, the website never receives or stores your message, because the message never touches it. Second, once you press send in your email app, the conversation is an ordinary email conversation: we can see your email address and whatever you wrote, exactly as with any email you send anyone.

We use the contents of that email only to answer you. We do not add you to any list, we do not share your address with anyone, and we keep support email only as long as it is useful for the thread it belongs to. If you would rather it were deleted sooner, ask in the message and we will delete it once we have replied.

Server access logs

Like effectively every site on the internet, the server that delivers these pages keeps standard access logs. They are created and held by our hosting provider, not by us, and they typically record:

• Your IP address.
• The date and time of the request.
• Which page or file was requested, and whether it was delivered successfully.
• Your browser's user agent string (browser and operating system version).
• The referring page, if you arrived by clicking a link.

These logs exist for security and reliability: spotting attacks, diagnosing outages and confirming that pages are actually loading. They are not used to build a profile of you, they are not combined with anything else, and they are not sold or shared for marketing. Retention is governed by the hosting provider's own policy, and log entries are usually rotated out within a short period.

Cookies and local storage

SonicSweep sets no cookies of its own. There is no login to remember, no cart, no cross page state that needs one. If your browser stores a small amount of data for this site (for example a remembered theme or volume preference kept in local storage), it stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

The site may carry third party advertising or analytics scripts. Where those are enabled, the third party can set its own cookies or similar identifiers from your browser, and can use them to measure traffic or to select and measure ads. That data is handled under that provider's own privacy policy, not ours, and we never receive your name or contact details from it.

You are in control of all of this at the browser level:

• Block or delete cookies: every major browser lets you block third party cookies, clear existing ones, or block cookies for a specific site. Look under Settings, then Privacy and security.
• Use a private window: cookies set during a private or incognito session are discarded when you close it.
• Turn on tracking protection: Firefox, Safari, Edge and Brave all include built in tracking protection you can raise to a stricter level.
• Send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control: most browsers can broadcast an opt out signal, and some ad and analytics providers honour it.
• Use an ad or script blocker: the site is designed to work fine with one running. Blocking ads does not break the cleaner.

Blocking any of this has no effect on the tools. The cleaner, the sweep and the sound tests are plain browser audio and will work with every cookie on your machine deleted.

Advertising

The site is funded by a small number of advertising slots kept away from the tool controls, which you can read more about on our about page. We do not hand advertisers any information about you. We never sell or share personal information, and we do not run anything that could reasonably be described as selling your data, because we do not hold any to sell.

Links to other sites

Our guides link out to manufacturer support pages, repair resources and occasionally to product pages. Once you follow a link, you are on that company's website and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no control over what they collect and no visibility into it, so it is worth a glance at their policy if you are about to enter any details.

Children's privacy

SonicSweep is a general audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and there is no mechanism on the site through which a child could submit personal information to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

One safety note for parents that is not strictly about privacy but matters more: the cleaning tones are loud by design. Keep the device away from a child's ears, and away from babies and pets, while a cycle is running.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, data protection law gives you the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it in a portable form.

In practice there is very little for those rights to apply to here, because we hold no visitor records. The exceptions are any email you have sent us and the hosting provider's access logs. Where we do process data, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website and in answering the people who contact us.

Your rights under CCPA and CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of them.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising in exchange for anything of value. We hold no categories of personal information about site visitors beyond what is described in the server logs and contact email sections above.

How to exercise your rights

Email us at hello@sonicsweep.app and say what you want done. There is no form to fill in and no account to verify.

• Tell us which right you are exercising (access, deletion, correction, portability, objection or opt out).
• Write from the email address the request concerns, so we can match it to whatever we hold.
• Expect an acknowledgement within a couple of working days and a substantive answer within 30 days, which is the timeframe both GDPR and CCPA work to.

You will not be charged, and you do not need to give a reason. If you are in the UK or EEA and you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Security

This is a static website: flat HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images, served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. There is no database, no user accounts, no admin login exposed to visitors and no server side code processing what you type. That architecture removes most of the ways a website leaks personal data, simply by having no personal data to leak.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is that the attack surface here is unusually small, and that we do not create copies of visitor information anywhere.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site works in a way that affects this policy, for example by adding an analytics tool, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described plainly rather than buried. The version you are reading is dated 15 September 2026, and there is no archive of earlier versions, so the current page is always the operative one.
